Adventureland
Introduction / Sypnosis:
It’s the summer of 1987, and James Brennan (Jesse Eisenberg), a comparative literature major has just graduated from Oberlin College. At an end of the year party, James’s girlfriend of less than 2 weeks breaks up with him. His friends blame it on the fact that he disclosed his virginity to her and she was unimpressed. James is all set to embark on his dream tour of Europe when his parents (Wendie Malick and Jack Gilpin) suddenly announce that they won’t be able to subsidize his trip, as his father has been transferred to a new job with less pay. James is very unhappy because the trip was supposed to be his graduation present and then his parents also explain that because of the job change they are unable to pay for his graduate education at Columbia University.
James then moves in with his parents and begins to explore possible job options. He is rejected from most based on his lack of experience and literary degree. James then interviews for a job as a games host at Adventureland, a local amusement park in his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA.
